Named after Queen Mary I of England, notorious for executing hundreds of Protestants, the drink is a popular hangover remedy made with tomato juice. Substitute the vodka in the traditional bloody Mary for tequila, and you have just renamed the drink the bloody Maria.
What Is in a Bloody Maria?
- 2 oz tequila
- 4 oz tomato juice
- ½ oz lemon juice
- 2-3 drops of Tabasco sauce
- 2-3 drops of Worcestershire sauce
- 2-3 horseradish liquid
- Pinch of celery salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- Celery stalk for garnish
How to Make a Bloody Maria
- Fill a drink shaker with ice.
- Add all ingredients except for the celery stalk
- Shake until well mixed and chilled
- Pour into an ice-filled glass and add garnish.
1800® Hot Blooded Maria
- 1 ½ oz 1800® Reposado tequila
- 4 oz tomato juice
- Splash lime juice
- 2 dashes hot sauce
- 2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
- Pinch of celery salt
- Pinch of black pepper
Patrón® Bloody Maria
- 2 oz Patrón® silver
- 8 oz fresh tomato juice
- Worcestershire to taste
- Tabasco to taste
- Dash black pepper
- 1 celery stalk (garnish)
