Reading Time: 2 minutesWays to Tie a Head Scarf – Jackie-O
Jackie-O often grabbed her finest silk scarf, folded it into a triangle, tossed it over her head and secured it under her chin in a simple knot, and ultimately created an iconic fashion statement. Oh, so simple, yet oh so elegant! She also wore it as pictured above. Instead of tying a knot under the chin, you crisscross the loose ends, bring them around your neck and tie the knot in the back.
Ways to Tie a Head Scarf – Casual Turban
- Fold a long scarf lengthwise.
- Holding each end of the scarf, center it at the back of your head at the nape of your neck.
- Bring each end forward and crisscross at the forehead.
- Let one end drape to the side of your head. Bring the other end back around the head to meet the hanging draped end.
- Tie the two ends in a casual knot. You can also secure it with a hair elastic.
- Turn the center askew so that the point of the original crisscross is toward one temple.
- Neaten as needed.
Turban with a Twist
- This style requires a long scarf. Drape the scarf over your head, centering it on your forehead.
- Pull it back tightly behind your head at the nape of your neck, just as if you were gathering hair for a ponytail.
- Hold the top of the ‘ponytail’ located at the nape of the neck securely with one hand while grasping the loose hanging ends together. Starting at the top, twist them together, moving your hand down as you twist. Hold the bottom securely when done.
- Bring the twist you just created up across the scarf on top of your head like a crown bringing it back to the nape of the neck.
- Tuck the loose hanging end into the newly formed loop created at the nape of the neck between the original point where you started the twist, and the loop formed when you brought the twist around your head.
- Pull to tighten and neaten as needed.
